Return of Glamour
Collection V is an ode to old fashion glamour, femininity, fantasy and movement. Glamour is an illusion, one which provides an escape from reality. Collection V pays homage to eras of great excess, from the aristocracy of the 1790s to the Hollywood starlets of the 1950s.
“It’s interesting how labor and glamour hold hands with one another. I put myself and my team through some of the hardest and longest work days to make this collection possible.”
“A simple looking tulle skirt, hiding an excess of four and a half yards of fabric. A dress with 408 grommets, another with 34 hand sewn buttons, hundreds of feet of silk ribbons. hand sewn lace inserts, pintucks, boning..."
“Do you believe in fate? Sometimes I think God or the universe is winking at me. After my debut runway show, Collection IV, a deeply intimate reflection of my childhood and relationship with the church, I knew I wanted to do something light hearted and glamorous.”
“On week nights and weekends I watched old films starring Rita Hayworth, Audrey, Marilyn and Sophia Loren. I especially loved watching them play turn of the century women, the extravagant costumes filled me with curiosity and excitement.”
“I visited the New Canaan museum where they let me into their archives, and I was able to see how bustles were gathered and sewn, the crinolines hiding underneath to give shape.”

We flew to Los Angeles with not a single location booked, but like magic and with the help of my amazing friends and community, the pieces all began to fall into place.”
“What are the odds that the first location we shot at was on Hayworth Ave? A newspaper that was used as a prop fell to the kitchen floor as we were shooting, revealing Marylin Monroe’s instantly recognizable gaze in a Chanel perfume ad.”
“We even ended up in a Hollywood home filled with rare antiques that was about to have an estate sale days later. What could all of these coincidences mean?”
“Fashion to me is more than just clothes. It has a spirituality to it and I feel Marcelo really has the gift of tapping into that. When I wear his pieces it awakens different parts of me within, calling on fantasies to be brought to the surface, giving hidden parts of myself a place to play, dance, and sparkle. This collection really spoke to my soul and allowed me to embrace the Hollywood spirit in the most magical way. Many times while shooting, I felt I was having out of body experiences, like I was being carried through time and memories, bringing my deepest desires to life. Suddenly it felt like everything I ever wished for was unfolding in front of me - all from the magic of creating and crafting these looks and the “character.” I am deeply grateful to have collaborated with Marcelo and his team.
